Medical Maze Part I

Illness can be a scary ordeal moreover; terrifying when compounded by the medical insurance predicament. It is vital that we armor our selves with knowledge on how to navigate through the medical labyrinth. The medical system is man made with many flaws therefore one must tread carefully. I use to be in charge of medical at a group home for the developmental disabled adult. I learned a great deal of handy tips for navigating through the medical maze. A good idea is to compile all essential medical information on each family member and put it into three ring binders. So when going to the doctor or emergency room you will have the critical medical information on hand.

Inside medical binder:

= First page should have all the important information.

1. Personal information

2. Brief medical history

3. Medications currently taking

4. Emergency contacts

5. Disabilities

6. Other information you believe to be important

= Plastic business card holder for insurance card and other medical cards.

= Copy of all medical records from every doctor visit. (It is your legal right to have copies of your medical files)

= Note book paper for your notes and questions.

Day of Rest

Sabbath is a time of rest. However, this may be hard to convince young children of this fact. Here are some calm games to play that will also help them develop listening skills and concentration.

Listening game

Ask your child to close his eyes and tell you what noises he hears.

What made that noise?

Preparation: Put several objects on a small table.

= Ask your child to close his eyes and tell you what noises he hears.

= Make a noise with one or more of the objects.

= Ask him how you made the noise.

Tapping a rhythm

Preparation: drums, pots, or anything to tap on.

= Tap a simple rhythm on a drum or pot. (Start off with no more than two or three taps.)

= Ask him to repeat it.

Where is the alarm clock?

Preparation: small alarm clock that ticks loudly.

= Hide that clock.

= Ask him to try to track it down.

Have ideas for calm and fun activities for children please share them with us.

Treasures in Heaven

My family and I are getting ready to move. As I was planning for the move I looked at the stuff we had gathered in the past few years. How much of this stuff did we really need and how much was just to quench our desire for things. We do not own a lot because while I was growing up my parents moved a great deal and I learned to live with used furniture and to give away my old things. I once believed I had a deprived up bringing but since Yah opened my eyes to the truth I am now thankful that my parent taught me that there are finer things than material possessions.

I thought about the man who asked Yahshua what he needed to do to enter into the kingdom. Yahshua told him to obey Yah's laws. The man stated that he has been following Yah's commandments since he was a small child. Yahshua instructed the rich man to sell all his belongings, give to the poor, and follow Yahshua. The man was not happy about this. I can image how this man felt. He was asked to give up the things that gave him comfort, security, and prestige. It is a shame that he did not find comfort in Yahweh. I stopped packing and searched through Thompson Topical Bible. I looked up the word riches and found Mt 6:20.

"But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal." Next, I went to the Oxford Annotated Bible and read Matthew 6:19 -21. "Do not lay for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and there thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."

We are definitely not serving Yahweh if we are spending a lot of our time and money gathering earthly possessions.

"But righteousness with contentment is great gain: for we brought nothing into the world, for neither can we carry anything out; but having food and covering we shall be therewith content. But they that are minded to be rich fall into a temptation and a snare and many foolish and hurtful lusts, such as drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil: which some reaching after have been led astray from the faith, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows. But thou, O man of Yahweh, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, uprightness, faith, love, patience, meekness. Fight the good fight of the faith, lay hold on the life eternal, whereunto thou wast called, and didst confess the good confession in the sight of many witnesses. I charge thee in the sight of Yahweh, who giveth life to all things, and of Messiah Yahshua, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed the good confession; that thou keep the commandment, without spot, without reproach, until the appearing of our Master Yahshua the Messiah: which in its own times he shall show, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Master of masters; who only hath immortality, dwelling in light unapproachable; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honor and power eternal. Amen. Charge them that are rich in this present world, that they be not highminded, nor have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on Yahweh, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; that they do good, that they be rich in good works, that they be ready to distribute, willing to communicate; laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on the life which is life indeed. O Timothy, guard that which is committed unto thee, turning away from the profane babblings and oppositions of the knowledge which is falsely so called; which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with you." (1 Timothy 6:6-21)

I am thankful for the healthy food to eat , nice clothes to wear, and warm place to live. I am grateful for the good health of my family. I thank Yahweh for opening my eyes to these passages and the wisdom that it has taught me. I learned that if I put my effort into obtaining earthly objects I risk losing the Holy Spirit. I Learned that by obeying His commandments and serving with righteousness, faith, love, steadfastness, and gentleness, I lay up treasure in heaven in which Yahshua will bring with Him in that great day.
