Friday, September 6, 2002 Shabbat Shalom, Greetings Brethren, The seventh scriptural month, ethanim, is almost here, HalleluYah! Following the weekly Sabbath, Sept. 7th, with the setting of the sun we will be looking for the new moon that starts the seventh month. This new moon will most likely be visible in parts of the southwestern US on the 7th of September and visible in Jerusalem, Israel on the 8th of September. This new moon will be one of the more difficult ones to sight, perhaps a little easier to see than the new moon in March for Abib but due to its age and deflection from sun the crescent will most likely be extremely thin. The Feast of Trumpets is called the Awakening of Israel because it shows the quickness and suddenness of the coming Kingdom of Yahweh. What is translated in the King James and other versions of the scriptures as the Memorial of blowing Trumpets should more accurately be called the Zikrown Teruah or Yom Teruah. When thinking of the Feast of Trumpets we may visualize brass trumpets or a ram's horn being blown but the Feast of Trumpets as written in the Hebrew actually points to a specific sound of a horn. Teruah is nine or ten quick blasts through the horn making a unique sound. It is a sound that is meant to alarm the people of Israel. I pray that you have a blessed Awakening!
