Friday, January 3, 2003 Shabbat Shalom, May Yahweh bless you this Sabbath and throughout this new month through Yahshua the Messiah. The eleventh new moon was seen in many areas, the reports of those sightings are listed below. Here in Holts Summit, Missouri; Laura, John, Veronica, and I all went out around 4:45 PM to look for the new moon. Around 5:25 PM Laura made the first sighting of the new moon and pointed it out to me and the children. As seen in the pictures below this new moon was perhaps the lowest and thinnest crescent that I have ever seen without any magnification. The initial sighting of the crescent according to distant suns was only a little more than 5 degrees above the horizon. This really is a record setter in comparison to some of the historical data that we have seen from different sources. The blessing of fairly clear weather for our northern winter provided a truly awesome sight. It is hard to see in the last photo (5:45 PM) below but we have about 5 inches of snow on the ground here in central Missouri. The photos are in order of time, the new moon was seen around 5:25 PM (5:30 PM for the first photo) with the last photo being taken around 5:45 PM. Psalms 47:5 Elohim is gone up with a shout, Yahweh with the sound of a shofar. 6 Sing praise to Elohim, sing praises: Sing praises unto our King, sing praises. Thank you brethren for your reports, I will add more reports as they become available to this page under "What's New" on PaleoTimes.org. Yahweh Bless, James A. Meyer Plano, TexasShabbat shalom to all and greetings in the name of Yahweh:
My wife June and I were blessed to be able to spot the new moon crescent over Plano, TX this evening at around 6:00 CST. It was fairly low this time. May the blessings of Yahweh be with you all.

At 6:00 this evening, my wife and two of our sons spotted the New Moon crescent very low on the horizon. It was very thin indeed.
Of course, I do not reckon the new month until the crescent has been spotted over Yisrael, especially for Festivals of Yahweh.

I went out well before sundown and drove along I-70 W. trying to find a high spot to view the sunset (remember I'm new to this area). The highest places here are on the interchanges along the hwy. We have a lot of rolling hills and trees in this area so it is difficult to find a clear view. Anyway, I drove out on a country road and parked along a 2 lane farm road to await the big event.
I shut down the car and lights and pulled over as far as I dared in the snow bank, keeping my eyes on the western sky, and in the rear view mirror in case someone came up behind me, and I would need to turn on my lights to alert them that I was partially blocking the road.
After a while a local lady pulled up in her pickup to ask if I needed help. I thanked her and explained briefly that I was waiting to see the new moon. She said, "Oh, well let us know how it looks." Then a half hour or so later, a cop came in response to a call from someone that a lady parked along side the road in the snow, was in need of help. I told him that I was fine, and that I had my cell phone. I was just waiting for the moon. He said, "Very Good" Then turned around and left. I'd love to see his report! "Call for stranded woman turned out to be a 'Lunatic' watching for the new moon tonight..."
I never did see the moon, so I finally gave up and headed back to the high spot on the hwy. before the time for the moon set was up. Still no moon. So, I did try, but don't know what went wrong. Maybe my eyes need to be checked
Forgive the long story!
