Greetings Brethren,

The new moon was seen by many brethren around the world today, March 4th.  This new moon marks the beginning of the 13th month also know as the second Adar.  May Yahweh bless you throughout this month.  This is the last month before the beginning of the new biblical year and their is much to get prepared for with the coming of Passover next month.

We praise Yahweh for the safe journey of those who went out to verify the Abib today.  The weather this year in Israel is rather interesting considering their rather warm climate they had snow this past week.  Attached are a couple pictures from the Jerusalem Municipal website showing the hills covered in snow.  Jerusalem has had drought conditions for some time now so any precipitation is well received as a blessing.

Yahweh Bless,

James A. Meyer

Abib Report and New Moon in Jerusalem

Abib Not Found

The Abib Search was carried out across the Land of Israel on March 3-4, 2003, the last two days of the Twelfth Month. The Abib Search covered different regions in the Land of Israel including the Judean Hills, Shephelah, Northern Negev, Judean desert, Jordan Valley, Beth Shean Valley, Jezreel Valley, Galilee, and Transjordanian side of the Jordan Valley. In the northern Negev and Jordan Valley, the areas which usually ripen earliest, isolated stalks of Abib barley were found, however, not in large enough concentrations or quantities to constitute the Month of the Abib. The largest patch containing Abib barley in the Negev contained only about 20 stalks of which only 50% were Abib, while most of the stalks in that field were in the worm stage [soft dough]. The largest patch containing Abib barley in the Jordan Valley also contained only about 20 stalks of which only 25% were Abib, while most of the stalks in that field were in the flowering stage. Most of the barley found in the northern Negev and Jordan Valley were only in the flowering stage. Overall, there was not enough Abib barley so that the barley harvest could begin in two weeks time as required during Feast of Unleavened Bread in accordance with Dt. 16:9 "when the sickle begins upon the standing grain". Therefore, the beginning of the biblical year will take place in one month's time with the sighting of the new moon on the evening of April 3, 2003 making that evening and the day of April 4, 2003 the 1st day of the First biblical month.

On March 4, 2003 the New Moon was sighted by numerous observers in Jerusalem including Nehemia Gordon, Melekh ben Ya'aqov, Devorah Gordon, Roy Hoffman, Ruthanne Koch, Angie Andrews, and Richard Dolan, and Brian Convery.

Yes, we did see the new moon tonight but, the height at which we saw it definitely indicates that last night(03.03.03) that was new moon in my opinion and observation.

Shalom,

Bro. Augustus Paul
Note: Respectfully it is only an new moon if the new moon is visually sighted without magnification by at least two witnesses.  JAM

Texas Hill Country

Shalom from the Texas Hill Country near the LBJ Ranch-- I have clearly seen the beautiful new moon at 725 PM CT without any optical aid, hanging low in the western sky, with the darkened portion of the moon above the thin sliver of the crescent's light. HalleluYah!

Just moments ago here in the Venus, Texas area, three of my sons spotted the New Moon crescent which begins the 13th scriptural month of the year. It was spotted around 6:40 this evening in the very clear sky very high indeed.

Dear Friends,

Just a quick report to all.

The New Moon was sighted by our family 7.15 PM Tuesday evening 4th March 2003, very low on the horizon over Johannesburg, South Africa in a clear evening sky.  We have had no confirmation yet of the sighting of the green ears (ABIB) up to now.  But if anyone receives any information on that, please let us know.

Yahweh's blessings, in Yahshua's Saving Name,

Lionel

Hi Brother James,

We are so sorry to report:

We did NOT sight the new moon crescent in Danville, Virginia on March 4, 2003 due to heavy clouds.

Berry and Donna Rose

Hello again, my friend.... it's Alex Jy again. Both Monday and Tuesday nights were cloudy so, once again, we did not see the moon. I get many calls every day about Passover so any news would be greatly appreciated. Did the first or the 13th month just begin? Please tell us when you know. Shalom... Alex

Reports on March 3rd

Arkansas

Greetings, Jim:

No new moon seen here. I did not expect to see it, but even if it had been there, there was a band of low clouds that would have hidden it.

I will look again tomorrow night.

Shalom,
Frank Brown

North Carolina

Well, disappointingly, we were unable to see the moon. The horizon was very hazy, and there were dense clouds in the West and southwest of the sun. We're eager to see if anyone else saw it! Shalom!

Shalom Bro Meyer,

We were not able to see the moon here in St. Thomas tonight..
