Friday, September 26th, 2003 Greetings brethren, Brother Gary Mansager reported that his wife Stacey and he saw the new moon tonight in Omaha, Nebraska. Gary's Report Sister Karen in Headland, Alabama reported seeing the new moon tonight. Praise Yahweh the Memorial of Trumpets is here! The sound of Teruah is part of the command of for Yom Teruah. Teruah The moedim of the seventh month are on the following dates: | Memorial of Trumpets | September 27, 2003 | | Atonement | | October 6, 2003 | | Feast of Tabernacles | October 11-17, 2003 | | Last Great Day | October 18, 2003 |
What is the Impact of Yom Teruah? Yom Teruah, which is simply translated "day of blowing" is a yearly sign to the believer in Messiah that Yahshua is coming. As a believer our daily struggle and sacrifice is towards the goal that we might one day be heirs to the kingdom of Yahweh. The blowing of the shofar announcing the start of the seventh month is a wake up call for Israel and Judah to the fulfillment of a promise made by Yahweh to Abraham. As the faith of Abraham was on the promise of Yahweh that Isaac would be the father of the nations of the promise so are our hearts set to be heirs to the kingdom of Yahweh. The understanding of Yom Teruah for each individual believer is truly dependant on the faith of each believer that Yahweh's word will be fulfilled. Do you believe that Yahweh's word will be fulfilled? Not the first and not the only fulfillment was the birth of the Messiah Yahshua. Yahshua throughout his life fulfilled the word of Yahweh so as John put it the word of Yahweh became flesh. You too are the children of Yahweh if you accept His word to be true. The acceptance of Yahweh's word comes from the proving of it. The scripture says let a women be silent in the assembly asking her husband in her own home. (1Cor. 14:34-35) As a man I am to teach my wife according to the word of Yahweh. When Paul wrote this scripture men didn't have copies of the scriptures at home but through the teaching of the elders and the reading of the Torah in the synagogue the men had understanding of the scriptures. Ask yourself, "Can I teach my wife when she asks?" Yahweh says awaken from your slumber Israel! Isaiah 52 1 "Awake, awake, put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean. 2 Shake thyself from the dust; arise, sit on thy throne, O Jerusalem: loose thyself from the bonds of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion. 3 For thus saith Yahweh, Ye were sold for nought; and ye shall be redeemed without money. 4 For thus saith the Adonay Yahweh, My people went down at the first into Egypt to sojourn there: and the Assyrian hath oppressed them without cause. 5 Now therefore, what do I here, saith Yahweh, seeing that my people is taken away for nought? they that rule over them do howl, saith Yahweh, and my name continually all the day is blasphemed. 6 Therefore my people shall know my name: therefore they shall know in that day that I am he that doth speak; behold, it is I." Israel, we have been redeemed without money. We have been redeemed by the sacrifice of Yahshua, the payment of blood. This awesome price is going to waste brethren. The blood is becoming void if we don't do as Yahweh asks. Teruah shatters the silence. It shatters the silence of indifference when Yahweh's word is being mocked by the uncircumcised and the unclean. Teruah is a specific sound of the shofar. In fact, there were different patterns of sound as laid out in scripture demanding different responses by the people. The spiritual meaning is much more powerful than a simple blast of a horn. We find that when Moses was on the mountain receiving from Yahweh the commands by which Israel was to be governed the people heard thundering. Exodus 19:16 "And it came to pass on the third day, when it was morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of a trumpet exceeding loud; and all the people that were in the camp trembled." Exodus 20:18 "And all the people perceived the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the voice of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they trembled, and stood afar off. 19 And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear; but let not Elohim speak with us, lest we die." The sound of thunder and the sight of lightening was a wakeup call to Israel which unfortunately they did not heed. Will we heed the thunder of Yahweh's horn, Yahweh's voice? The word for thunder comes from a Hebrew root meaning "to call aloud", "a voice", or "a sound". Psalms 77:18 the Hebrew word "kowl" is translated voice. This representation of calling aloud goes both ways. Asaph, the author of Psalms 77 says he cries to Elohim with his voice. Voice in verse one is the same as the sound that Israel was dearly afraid of when Yahweh talked with Moses. This word study could be continued throughout the scriptures. Revelations 19:5 "And a voice came forth from the throne, saying, Give praise to our Elohim, all ye his servants, ye that fear him, the small and the great. 6 And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunders, saying, Hallelu Yah: for Yahweh our Elohim, the Almighty, reigneth." Yahweh's promises to Abraham will come true. Something that just really tickles me is that the tallit, prayer shawl, is considered a closet. It is in our closet that we present to Yahweh our most dear confessions, aloud face to face, with our eyes open! That is another topic though, look into it. Teruah is a specific sound. Teruah is three or four short blasts followed by a long blast. The command for the Memorial of Trumpets can be found in Leviticus 23:24-25. The command actually contains the action and the action is then done in memorial or as a rehearsal of the original act, much the way Passover is a rehearsal. Leviticus 23:24 "Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, shall be a solemn rest unto you, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation." For translators bringing the Hebrew word of Teruah into English it is rather difficult because there is not an easy way to translate a sound. So the translators took the action and translated it as "Blowing of trumpets" which really doesn't define the sound. The sound is important considering that with them we hear the word of Yahweh. So what action do we need to take in preparation for the Memorial of Trumpets? Considering that it is an awakening in preparation for our atonement to Yahweh and our goal to be part of the thousand year reign we must take it extremely seriously. The Solemn Assembly called also the Last Great Day when all things have been purified for a thousand years is extremely exciting. I pray that we are there brethren! I pray that we don't snooze through our short time on this earth. There is one thing that we need to be focused on and that is Yahweh. Through the redemptive blood and payment of Messiah we are redeemed from this sinful world to resurrection of righteousness. Hallelu Yah Yahweh bless, James Meyer Reports for September 26, 2003Cisco, TexasWe searched for the new moon Friday, 9-26, and did not see it.
