Suckla, visited the S. Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. I stayed for about a month and kept the feast of Tabernacles with a small group of believers on the W. coast. I returned back in 1999 for a more extended stay. Since being here I have worked amongst the various assemblies that call upon the Name of Yahweh. There are maybe 5000 people that call on Yahweh in this state. My main endeavors have been to teach the importance of the Torah, including the proper observance of the Sabbath and annual festivals. Since being here many evangelistic meetings have been conducted in various places and over 200 baptisms have taken place. The main Bible that is available in the Telugu language uses the name Yehovah for the heavenly Father, and Esu for the Son. It is somewhat difficult for a Telugu man here in Andhra to teach the importance of the correct pronunciation of the Name of the Creator and His Son whenever the Bible that he reads from does not have that Name. But being that the movement to call on the Name of Yahweh and and Yahshua has grown to a sufficient size amongst the Telugu people, the time is right for a translation of the Bible into the Telugu language that has the proper Names of Deity. It was my first intention to simply use the current available Bible and replace the correct Names. So I contacted the Bible Society of India which holds the copyright on the Bible and asked for permission to use their text. After many meetings with their head supervisors, I was eventually denied permission to use their text. So the long arduous task of producing a complete new Telugu text was undertaken. At present we have been working on the project for about two and a half years and Genesis thru John have been translated and typeset into the computer in the Telugu language. Hopefully in another few months the translation process should be complete. We have did quite a bit of proofreading already, but there is still a big job of proofreading to do. Most all of the work thus far has been done by Assembly members, many who donated their time to help. To do the work it was necessary to rent a house for the translation work; three computer systems have been purchased along with a laser printer, CD writer, file cabinets, tables, etc... The Old Testament was translated from the Masoretic text using Jay Green's Interlinear Bible, Strong's Concordance and the BDB Hebrew Lexicon, plus comparing with several other English Bible translations. For the NT the DuTillet Hebrew book of Matthew was used. For the rest of the NT we are using the Byzantine Greek Manuscripts, this is the same Greek manuscripts that the KJV is based on. The current Telugu Bible is based on the Alexandrian manuscripts. We are using the Aramaic Names found in the Peshitta NT and other Aramaic sources, being that most all scholars will admit that Yahshua spoke Aramaic. We are using the original Hebrew Names of all people and places as well as Hebrew titles for divinity. Now that we have completed the Old Testament we have thought it wise to send the manuscripts to a Hebrew scholar that also knows Telugu for proofreading. We found a Hebrew professor at one of best Theological Colleges in our state that agreed to help us. He has charged us $180.00 for proofreading the books of Genesis and Matthew. We formed a recognized body called the Assemblies of Yahweh Ministries that we plan on having the Bible printed in the name of. The body consists of the leading Pastors and members in this State that have helped on the project. This body will be custodians of the Bibles in the future when I am not around. This will be the first Bible outside of the English language to be printed that has the Names of Yahweh and Yahshua in it, that I know of. We pray that it will be a major tool in proclaiming the truth in the future and that many souls will be brought into the kingdom because of its publication. There are about 70 million people in the world that speak Telugu. The project has been funded by various believers from abroad. It has a present monthly budget of about 350 dollars, this figure includes the hiring of the various workers, providing food for them, rent on the house we stay in, etc... In the future we will need to raise funds to print the Bible. Help is still needed for the completion of the project.
