Greetings Brethren,

Shabbat shalom, I pray that you have a blessed Sabbath and fourth new moon.  The new moon tonight was sighted in Holts Summit, Missouri by a gathering of the Wagner and Meyer families.  We had an excellent time with the brethren from California, Missouri.  Sister Cathy Wagner was the first to sight the new moon probably around 8:55PM.  With the help of brother Thomas Wagner we documented the beautiful sky.  The first picture is around 8:30PM when the sun set but soon after the first picture the low level clouds moved in and the sky was dark for about 30 minutes as the second pictures shows.  Around 8:55PM the low level clouds finally moved out and we were left with the sighting of a beautiful new moon.  The last three pictures are taken between 8:55PM and 9:30PM.  Praise Yahweh for giving us his moedim (signs) so that we can all follow His calendar.  Brother Hector Castillo reported that the Castillo family in Sterling, Illinois and Brother Robert Sackett reported, he and three others in Hollister, California sighted the new moon.  Thank you brethren for your reports and continued efforts.

Prayer Updates

Sister Donna Rose is doing much better these days.  The prayer through Messiah Yahshua and the intervention of Almighty Yahweh really changed Sister Donna's condition.  She has a much clearer mind today which is a lot better than the effects after she took Phenergan.  Brother Berry Rose said as soon as the prayer started his wife was doing much better.  I want to take this moment also to say if a doctor prescribes Phenergan please ask for something else.

The following prayer request is from Sister Katherine Pate:

My best friend's name is Cherie Denis. She is 27 years old and has two young children and her unbelieving (and somewhat unsupportive) husband's name is Brandon. Cherie just found out that she has breast cancer, and according to the most recent test results, the doctors have found more cancer than they expected, and believe that it has been there about 3 years. They tested her lymph nodes and half of the samples were positive. Now, they are waiting for her incision to heal so they can do a mammogram, and expect to find cancer in the other breast as well. They will be doing a bone test and CAT scan, and she will begin a minimum of 4 months of chemotherapy followed by radiation treatment. She will also undergo a double mastectomy.

She is trying to keep her spirits up, but she said her faith is wavering because despite her prayers, the news just keeps getting worse. You would think that being young, her body would be able to fight it off easier, but apparently cancer spreads more quickly in younger people because of their faster metabolism. I am afraid that she will not survive it, and it is heartbreaking to think about her children losing their mom. I know that Yahweh has a plan for all of us, and that His timing is perfect, but I don't want her to die this young.

I don't know if anyone would be interested in writing to her, but I am sure that she would appreciate any words of encouragement. She is a Christian, but hasn't attended church in a long time, so I'm not sure how close she is with Yahweh right now. She is familiar with the Names, though, so she wouldn't be confused if anyone used them.

There are many brethren seeking Yahweh's healing.  We endure these trials as they refine us; I pray that we are long-suffering toward righteousness.  If you are in need of healing call out to Yahweh through Messiah Yahshua.  He will hear your prayer but we must be patient with the spirit of shalom.  The blessing of being restored to completeness has been shown through Messiah Yahshua as glorifying to the Father.  Send a clothe to Yahweh's Assembly in Messiah, 401 N. Roby Farm Rd., Rocheport, Missouri 65279 with a note of what the healing clothe is need to do and the elders of the assembly will bless it and send the anointing back to you.  Paul is noted to have done this in Acts 19:11-12 as an extra ordinary miracle but as we have faith, all things are possible with Yahweh.  Ask your brethren to pray for you, James was inspired to write in chapter 5 verses 16, "Therefore confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man has great power in its effects."

Yahweh bless,

James Meyer

The Castillo's saw the New Moon today!!!

Shalom Jim and all who follow Yahweh:

A low deck of clouds moving in from the west and a milky atmosphere made seeing the new moon impossible in this area. Hopefully, others will be more successful.

May Yahweh bless and keep you all.

Elizabeth City, North Carolina

Hello, no new moon sighting here in Elizabeth City, NC due to thunderstorms. Hope you all have a blessed Shabbat!

Katherine and Andrew Pate

Crawfordsville, Indiana

Shalom Bro. James, Here in Crawfordsville Indiana, the sky is heavy with clouds. My wife still went to see if it was possible to see the crescent, but there was no parting of the clouds. I know someone will see it in the US this evening. Everyone have a blessed New Moon Sabbath! In Yahushua's Name Warren Smith Yahweh's Refuge Assembly

Danville, Virginia

Brother James,

We went to our favorite viewing spot. It was nice for the family being able to enjoy a nice evening watching the skies. We were able to see some stars, a dipper but NO NEW MOON CRESCENT.  It was disappointing but we remember the excitement of past sightings.  Father willing, we will be looking for it next month.

Sabbath Shalom,

Berry & Donna Rose

We have so much to be thankful for and we are most thankful for the people on the prayer list that you maintain, being faithful and praying for Donna. Yahweh has answered our prayers, She seems to be recovering very well, praise be to Yahweh for ever.

Bonne Terre, Missouri

Shabbat Shalom Jim,

I wasn't able to see the New Moon here in Bonne Terre because it is too cloudy.

Hope this finds you and your family well.

Brother Tom's Weekly Sabbath Greetings

Dear Friends in Yahshua,

The New Moon should be observed in the USA the evening of 6-18-04
making this Sabbath, 6-19 the New Moon Day of the fourth month.

The word "moon" is used only 52 times in the entire NKJV.
This seems like a small number
for something which is so important in controlling our calendar.

Of course, the moon is sometimes spoken of without using its actual name.
On the fourth day of creation:
Genesis 1:14-18 Then Elohim said,
"Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens
to divide the day from the night;
and let them be for signs and seasons[Feast-times], and for days and years;
15 and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens
to give light on the earth"; and it was so.
16 Then Elohim made two great lights:
the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night.
He made the stars also.
17 Elohim set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth,
18 and to rule over the day and over the night,
and to divide the light from the darkness.
And Elohim saw that it was good.

Other times the KJV uses the word 'moon' when the text has nothing to do with the moon.
Isaiah 3:18 KJV In that day Yahweh will take away
the bravery of their tinkling ornaments about their feet,
and their cauls, and their round tires like the moon.

The NKJV made a big improvement.
Isaiah 3:18 NKJV In that day Yahweh will take away the finery:
The jingling anklets, the scarves, and the crescents;

The word translated "round tires like the moon"
is translated as "ornament" in the KJV
in the only three other places it is used.
It makes you wonder what translators are thinking of sometimes.
Other translations which use the word "crescent" include
NIV, NLT, NEB, The Scriptures,
and J. P. Green's Literal Translation.

Back to the moon (so to speak)
and especially the new moon.

In the time of Yahshua, the Sanhedrin,
the body of 70 Elders who were the religious authority in those days,
determined when the month started.
They sent experienced observers to hilltops to watch for the new moon.
When the observers came in they gave their report
and were examined to determine that they had done their job properly.
If it was determined that they had actually seen the new moon
then the Sanhedrin declared that the new month could begin.
This information comes from the Encyclopedia Judaica

Yahshua observed Passover and/or the Days of Unleavened Bread
according to this system as recorded in Matthew 26:2, 26:17-19,
Mark 14:1 and 12-16, Luke 2:41-42, 22:7-15, John 2:23, 13:1, 18:28, 39.

He observed the Fall Feasts according to this system as recorded in
John 7:2-40

Of course Yahshua kept all Yahweh's Holy days
but these are the ones that are specifically recorded.

The new moon to really watch for is the FIRST MONTH.
Deuteronomy 16:1 "Observe [watch for] the month [new moon]
of Abib [barley ears], and keep the Passover to Yahweh your Elohim,
for in the month of Abib
Yahweh your Elohim brought you out of Egypt by night.

You can watch for the moon just about where the sun sets
but after sunset when the sky gets a little darker.
It will look like a thin crescent with the points away from the sun

The new moon has been sighted by people at least since the time of Noah,
about 4300 years ago.
Genesis 7:11 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life,
in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month,
on that day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up,
and the windows of heaven were opened.

So, when you go out to see the new moon this evening,
think about being in front of the Sanhedrin
and having 70 elders ask you questions about it.
"How long have you been watching for the new moons?
"Did you ask Yahweh to give you good eyes tonight?
"Who was with you?
"Did they see it too?
"Where and when did the sun set?
"Where did the moon set?
"Did you use binoculars?
"How high was the moon when you first saw it?
"How long was that after sunset?"

Today we can give a report about our sighting on the internet.
You should mention your location,
the time of the first sighting,
when you could no longer see it,
and how many observers saw it.
Only observations with the naked eyes are accepted (eyglasses are OK)

Report by email to Brother James Meyer at this address:

and a loving spirit on this Sabbath Day.
