Greetings brethren,

The seventh new moon, Ethanim, was seen today in Ashdod, Israel; Johannesburg, South Africa; Elizabeth City, North Carolina; and Damon, Texas.  As soon as the sun sets it will be Yom Teruah; have a blessed Yom Teruah.  More new moon reports will be added to Paleo Times as they become available.  Please send your reports to New Moon.

Here are a few links to articles for this month:

Ashdod, Isreal

On Wednesday, September 15th, 2004, the new moon was sighted by Magdi Shamuel at 19:05 from Ashdod, Israel.

Therefore, the Yom Teruah Holiday will be Wednesday night and Thursday day only.

Happy Yom Teruah!

Dear Brethren, Greetings in Messiah!

I have to report that I was not able of seeing whether or not that the new moon made its appearing due to cloudiness over the western horizon here in Roseau, Dominica.

But I have received word from an Elder in Johannesburg, South Africa that he and his wife easily saw the new moon there this evening.

Shalom,
Bro. Augustus Paul

Elizabeth City, North Carolina

Shabbat Shalom, we saw the moon! It seemed to be slightly to the SW, a pale pink sliver amidst raspberry colored clouds. A truly beautiful way to begin this Yom Teruah!

Blessings to you all!

I saw the new moon at 7:52 p.m. It was super thin and almost hid behind some thin red clouds. It was about 5 degrees above the horizon. Happy Yowm Teruah!

Danville, Virginia

Brother Jim,

In Danville, Virginia the new moon was NOT sighted. Really weird, the sky above us was clear and stars shining bright but the western horizon was solid clouds. Maybe it is either aftermath from last hurricane or pre-Ivan. Glad it was sighted in Israel.

Be Blessed,

Berry

Near LBJ Ranch, Texas

The new moon was too low and the horizon cloaked by a bank of clouds to be visible in this area. I do rejoice however that it was seen in Israel. HalleluYah! His Holy Days have come!
