Friday May 26, 2006 Greetings brethren, New Moon RequestI pray brethren that this letter finds you and your family blessed. The third new moon of the Scriptural year will possibly be visible after sunset Sabbath. MoonCalc 6.0 shows that the new moon if visible will be difficult to see Sabbath evening. The degrees between the new moon and the sun will me no more than 10 degrees which means that the crescent will be extremely fine. The best locations for seeing the new moon tomorrow evening will be in the western US. The probability of seeing the new moon on Sunday evening is good. Please submit your new moon reports online through the new moon sighting submission page. MoonCalc 6.0 - May 27, 2006

Chag ShavuotThis Sabbath is the 43rd day in the inclusive count to Chag Shavuot, the Feast of Weeks. Chag Shavuot is one of the three annual observances that Yahweh commands all males (with there families) to assemble before Him. The first chapter in Acts speaks of today as the day after Yahshua’s ascension to the Father. Acts 1:3 documents the fact that Yahshua spent 40 days with the disciples after his resurrection. Yahshua utilized the 40 days with the disciples to prove Yahweh’s miracle of life in him. Those 40 days plus the three that Yahshua was in the grave is 43 days. The first of those days was a set apart day, a Sabbath, the day before the count to Chag Shavuot begins. The count then would indicate that today is the first day after that ascension. The significance of such a count is that there are 7 days between the time Yahshua accented and the time of the Chag Shavuot. The ordination of a Levite priest was just a shadow of the fulfillment that Messiah Yahshua demonstrated through his ascension. In Leviticus 8:33, we find the law of a priest’s ordination. The priest for 7 days remained at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting doing as Yahweh commanded. Yahweh anointed, Yahshua! Yahshua, high priest, offered the Chag Shavuot on the 50th day sending the advocate of Yahweh’s word upon the disciples gathered at Jerusalem. (John 14:16) This is just one aspect of the many prophecies and laws that Yahshua fulfilled throughout his life. The more we understand Yahshua’s life and the Torah that he lived, the more we understand the life we are to live. John 1:1 calls Messiah Yahshua the word of Yahweh. The living word established a Torah based on the application of realistic practices for life. The Torah is established through Messiah Yahshua just as the Torah reveals Yahshua. The Torah reveals the shadow of Yahshua but the life of Yahshua provides clarity in application of Torah. Hebrew 8:3 Every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices, and so it was necessary for this one also to have something to offer. 4 If he (Yahshua) were on earth, he would not be a priest, for there are already men who offer the gifts prescribed by the law. 5 They serve at a sanctuary that is a copy and shadow of what is in heaven. This is why Moses was warned when he was about to build the tabernacle: "See to it that you make everything according to the pattern shown you on the mountain." 6 But the ministry Yahshua has received is as superior to theirs as the covenant of which he is mediator is superior to the first one, and it is founded on better promises.
The high priest is a heavenly priest. Yahshua serves Yahweh in a temple that is perfect in comparison to our own. Our temple is corruptible and mortal but Yahweh’s temple is incorruptible because a perfect priest offers mediation on our behalf. Yahshua’s helps in the most difficult times by setting our minds upon a heavenly kingdom with better promises. I pray that Yahweh blesses you through Chag Shavuot, June 3, with shalom for you and your family. Yahweh bless, James A. Meyer |
