Shalom Brethren,

It is difficult to write this evening because of the shock and disgust that I feel about today’s events in Blacksburg, Virginia.  In light of the tragic and senseless killing of students and staff at Virginia Tech, I ask a prayer for the families impacted by this tragedy.  I can't imagine the deep grief that they are enduring by this sudden loss.  From Scripture, we find that murder has been a problem among men since the time of Adam and Eve.  The first murder was family violence by one man against his brother in part due to the shame of failure before Yahweh.

Rather than make an effort to make things better with Yahweh by offering an acceptable sacrifice Cain chose to kill his brother.  I can’t even come close to understanding this type of violence because I have always have been taught to work harder and things will improve.  Balance that with happiness with what Yahweh has provided.  Cain’s choice seems to be the one of ha Satan; he chose a destructive course rather than seeking the heart of Yahweh.  He believed he would receive approval if his brother was not offering sacrifices.

Cain was the first to destroy the image of Yahweh.  Similarly, Satan attempted to steal the throne of Yahweh rather than earn honor through diligence.  When compared with today’s tragedy we see the handy work of ha Satan.  Some will say that this tragedy is the result of America’s sin but consider one’s own sin first.  Will we be found acceptable to Yahweh on our current path?  We cannot be arrogant in any way because our sin is the sin that scourged and killed Messiah Yahshua.

Without Yahshua’s sacrifice, we would not have the possibility of eternal life or even know of a coming kingdom.  I feel sympathy for those who live in sin because Messiah rescued me from sin.  Messiah delivers freedom through the spirit of obedience.  The commemoration of the Passover sacrifice that just passed is a reaffirmation of faith in Yahweh and Messiah Yahshua by demonstrating the inspiration of Yahweh’s Word.  We know for a fact that death is temporary because Messiah Yahshua has conquered death so that we might be raised incorruptible.

There is hope for the eternal life of a great multitude in Messiah Yahshua.  I don’t know the families impacted by this tragedy but I empathize with the families.  I pray that from the tragedy we find a lesson of empathy which we can understand in humility.  It is a difficult lesson similar to the lesson of the Feast of Unleavened Bread which teaches the removing of yeast (doctrine) from our lives.  Yeast makes the whole lump of dough rise like an infection.  Likewise, a family can be misguided just by a small amount of false doctrine.  I know my own family and I know that there is plenty of room for improvement.

We are approaching the Feast of Weeks when a sacrifice with two leavened loaves was offered to Yahweh.  The yeast (doctrine) from Yahweh must be worked into our lives.  Not one part of our family should be without the yeast from Yahweh.  I pray that through Yahweh’s guidance that Yahshua would approve of our family.  It requires a diligent work of love which creates a soft and moldable heart.  It is a heart that is struck by the killing of innocence.  There is a time coming when Yahshua will restore innocence through the Kingdom of Yahweh.

New Moon

The second new moon of the Scriptural year is going to be visible in a couple nights.  Wednesday night at sunset the new moon is likely to be visible around the globe as long as the weather permits.  Please submit your reports online.  New Moon Report

MoonCalc 6.0 - April 18, 2007

1st or 2nd New Moon

As many of you are aware, the Paleo Times website lists the months based on the observance of Abib barley.  Many brethren utilize the vernal equinox for determining the first new moon of the Scriptural year.  For this reason, please be diligent in reporting this new moon sighting to help brethren who are keeping the first new moon with this sighting and also those brethren who are keeping a second Passover according to Numbers 9.  We are all looking for that new month through Yahweh's calendar in the heavens.

Yahweh bless,
James A. Meyer
