Thursday January 18, 2007 Shalom Brethren, I pray that this letter finds you blessed with the shalom of Almighty Yahweh and Messiah Yahshua. The eleventh new moon of the Scriptural year has a slim chance of being visible in the southwest of the United States tomorrow evening, January 19, 2007. If not seen tomorrow evening, the new moon should be easily visible around the earth after the Sabbath. Please submit your new moon report online through the New Moon Report form. New moon reports will be added to the What's New Section as they become available. MoonCalc 6.0 - January 19, 2007

The above thumbnails are clickable for full-sized images of the calculated visibility. A frequently asked question about these images is how one can utilize the images for determining visibility in one's local area? The new moon is not declared until there is a visual sighting of the new moon at sunset but these charts provide a good estimation of possible visibility. The colors on the above images represent the time after the conjunction. Each color represents a five hour period, the greater the amount of time after the conjunction the more illuminated the moon will become. Hours after the conjunction | Color | | Less than 15 hours | White | | 15 - 20 hours | Yellow | | 20 - 25 hours | Purple | | 25 - 30 hours | Red | | 30 - 35 hours | Turquoise | | 35 - 40 hours | Light Green |
Another observation that can be made from the above images is the pattern. It is difficult to distinguish accurately where the pattern changes in relation to the map of the earth but it provides some idea of where one will have the greatest likelihood to see the new moon. The more solid the pattern covers the map the more likely the new moon will be visible. The table below lists the different shapes used to build the pattern on the images and the expected visibility in correlation to the pattern. | Pattern | Visibility | | Solid | Easily Visible | | Small Vertical Line | Visible if perfect weather conditions | | Small Diamond | Optical aid to find moon | | Little Square | Visible with optical aid only |
This may seem technical but even the most technical tools cannot proclaim the new moon. They just help the congregations make better estimations. Visibility of the new moon really is in Yahweh's control. The simplicity of Yahweh's calendar is exciting because without any tools one can simply look at the sky and see the month begin. We look forward to the day when as a congregation we meet in Jerusalem before Almighty Yahweh. Think of the day when we might watch for these signs with Yahweh and Messiah Yahshua to explain the observation. It would be exciting to ask Yahshua about the creation and the setting of the calendar into motion. New moon sightings are an exciting part of our faith. It is something that we can share as a congregation. The new moon marks the count for the observance of moedim at least two times a year. The moedim of Yahweh are a blessing to all who observe Yahweh's commands by providing a real connection to our creator and the coming kingdom. There are many reasons to praise Yahweh and much to look forward to in Yahweh's kingdom. Praise Yahweh! Psalm 148:1 Hallelu Yah. Praise Yahweh from the heavens: Praise him in the heights. 2 Praise him, all his angels: Praise him, all his host. 3 Praise him, sun and moon: Praise him, all you stars of light. 4 Praise him, you heavens of heavens, And you waters that are above the heavens. 5 Let them praise the name of Yahweh; For he commanded, and they were created. 6 He has also established them for ever and ever: He has made a decree which shall not pass away. 7 Praise Yahweh from the earth, You sea creatures, and all deeps. 8 Fire and hail, snow and vapor; Stormy wind, fulfilling his word; 9 Mountains and all hills; Fruitful trees and all cedars; 10 Beasts and all cattle; Creeping things and flying birds; 11 Kings of the earth and all peoples; Princes and all judges of the earth; 12 Both young men and virgins; Old men and children: 13 Let them praise the name of Yahweh; For his name alone is exalted; His glory is above the earth and the heavens. 14 And he lifted up the horn of his people, The praise of all his saints; Even of the children of Israel, a people near unto him. Hallelu Yah. Yahweh bless, James A. Meyer |
