Positive Reports

Perth, Australia

The New Moon was sighted by a 5 reliable witnesses in Perth, Australia on 12 October 2007 at 6:46 PM local time.

Roseau, Dominica

Last evening Thursday Oct. 11th after the lunar 29th day, I made a search for the new moon but there was some clouds but not very cloudy with sufficient cloud hindrance which hindered me from seeing the western sky in its entirety.

So I returned this evening to make a search and the height at which I saw the new moon (9 minutes after sunset) this evening at 5:56pm (-4 GMT) on an entirely clear sky easily convinced me that the new moon was no where in sight last evening.

Augustus Paul

Cisco, Texas

Dear Jim,

Just for the record, writing to say that several here in Cisco, Texas, sighted the new crescent tonight. It was extremely thin and faint -- just a thread -- but 5 people saw it with the naked eye after spotting it with binoculars. Several others, myself included, saw it with binoculars but couldn't distinguish it without magnification.

Our sundown was 7:07, and the first sighting was about 7:20. (Sorry, I forgot to check my watch in the excitement.) Moonset was at 7:41.  We thank Yahweh for clear skies, with only a little haze low on the horizon.

Blessings,
Ruth York

Scottsdale, Arizona

Sighted by 3 people at 6:25 PM RL http://www.truthofyahweh.org/moon.htm

New Mexico

Two of us sighted the new moon on "Friday" night, just ahead of the Sabbath, 12 October. It was very very thin & low. We watched it for around 10 minutes from 6:50 PM to 7 PM MDT. DM

Negative Reports

Jerusalem, Israel

On Friday October 12, 2007 observers from several locations in Israel looked for the moon but it was not sighted.

We received a report from two observers who thought they saw the moon from Haon on the east coast of the Sea of Galilee. However, they reported seeing the moon at 17:35 which was four minutes AFTER moonset. Obviously the moon cannot be seen after it has set and therefore this reported cannot be accepted as valid.

The moon should be easily visible tomorrow night.

Fredericksburg, Virginia

The new moon was not seen here in Fredericksburg, Virginia.  There was low level haze and some clouds but it was fairly clear. JM and LM

Sterling, Illinois

We tried to spot the new moon here in Sterling, IL but it was very cloudy in the western sky. HC and CC

Frystown, Pennsylvania

Looked but couldn't see it. AJ and KJ

California, Missouri

We did not see the moon tonight as it was hazy and clouds moving in. Cathy and Joe

October 13

Jerusalem, Israel

On Saturday October 13, 2007 observers across Israel looked for the moon but it was not sighted due to heavy cloud coverage. Even though the moon was not sighted, tonight it is still new moon day by default since the month cannot be more than 30 days.

Rosh Hodesh Sameach!
Happy New Moon Day!
