Shalom Brethren,

Blow the shofar in Teruah! audio  The new moon was seen in Cisco, Texas by three reliable witnesses. (Report follows.)  The York family has been observing the new moon for decades and they have shared their sightings on a monthly basis.  Praise Yah that He gave their family the opportunity to see this new moon.  We are observing the Feast of Trumpets starting with the sunset that just passed.

September 12

Cisco, Texas

Dear Jim,
To our surprise, we saw the new moon tonight. Joe, William and Walker York first located it with binoculars at about 8:10 p.m. and then saw it with the naked eye. (Joe wore glasses.) I was able to see it only with binoculars.

Blessings,
Ruth Y.

West-central New Mexico

Hi James. Here in west-central New Mexico I was all set to sight the new moon. The sky was nearly clear to the west, (perfect sighting conditions), but I could NOT see it with the naked eye. My wife and I did see it with 10 X 50 binoculars, but it was much too faint to be seen with the naked eye. We did miss the final 3 degrees to the horizon due to a low mountain to the west.

Jerusalem, Israel

On Wednesday September 12, 2007 observers from several locations in Israel looked for the New Moon but it was not sighted despite extremely clear weather conditions. This was as predicted by modern astronomical visibility criteria. Tomorrow night (Thursday September 13, 2007) the moon should be easily visible from Israel given adequate weather conditions. Yom Teruah will begin Thursday night at sunset.

Nehemia Gordon

Fredericksburg, Virginia

No sighting with 6 new moon watchers on the scene. JM

Central Tennessee and Florida

No sighting here in middle Tennessee area-clear skies- Jewel & Mable were not able to see the new moon in Florida. Due to storm and cloudy skies.

Claude Sheets

Rocheport, Missouri

We had a sky with scattered clouds, but no sighting of the moon. EW

St. Thomas, Virgin Islands

There existed much haze and a density of clouds. If any place had a good chance of seeing it, it was here in the Caribbean, especially Dominica, St. Lucia and Trinidad. From St. Thomas, where I reside to Dominica, we had a 95% chance of seeing it. From St. Lucia to Trinidad, there was a 100% chance of seeing it. WE DID NOT SEE IT HERE IN THE VIRGIN ISLANDS (St. Thomas). I anxiously await the St. Lucia report and report from my fellow Elder, Felix Thomas of Dominica to see if it was seen by them. DG

South West, Missouri

Here in S.W. Missouri, we were unable to view the new moon. LS
