Friday February 8, 2008 Shabbat Shalom Brethren,
Blow the Shofar! On February 7th, a
reliable new moon watcher in West-central New Mexico reported seeing the new
moon. Considering naked eyes is corrected vision without magnification, this is
a valid sighting. Additional verification was found in a report from Cisco,
Texas; visible only with magnification. Therefore, there was greater visibility
the farther west the observer is located. There were no reports from California
positive or negative so there was no additional confirmation.
On February 8th, the new moon was seen in many
places starting with the first report from Jerusalem, Israel. Here in
Stafford, Virginia we had 4 observers of the new moon. The following
pictures where taken tonight between 6:00 and 6:30PM Eastern Time. New
moon reports will continue to be added as they are submitted.
Psalms 81:1 Sing aloud to Elohim our strength; shout for joy to
the Elohim of Yahakob! 2
Raise a song, sound the timbrel, the sweet lyre with the harp.
3 Blow the shofar at the
new moon, at the full moon, on our feast day.
4 For it is a statute for
Yisra’el, an ordinance of the Elohim of Yahakob.
5 He made it a decree in
Yowceph, when he went out over the land of Mitsrayim. I hear a voice I had
not known: 6 "I relieved
your shoulder of the burden; your hands were freed from the basket.
7 In distress you called,
and I delivered you; I answered you in the secret place of thunder; I tested
you at the waters of Meribah.

Prayers
Please continue to pray for the brethren affected
by the tornadoes in the Midwest. Psalm 86 comes to mind; it might not be
the best match but it stresses our reliance on Yahweh. We must call on
Yahweh in our time of trouble even if we do not know the source of the trouble.
It also speaks to following Yahweh righteously and from Yahweh we find help and
comfort. Messiah Yahshua is that righteousness and has sent the spirit of
help and comfort from Abba Yahweh.
Psalms 86:1 Incline
your ear, Oh
, and
answer me, for I am poor and needy. 2
Preserve my life, for I am righteous; save your servant who trusts in you. You
are my Elohim; 3 be
compassionate to me, Oh
,
for to you do I cry all the day. 4
Gladden the soul of your servant, for to you, Oh
, do I lift up my
soul. 5
For you, Oh
, are
good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call on you.
6
Give ear, Oh
, to my
prayer; hearken to my cry of supplication.
7
In the day of my trouble I call on you, for you answer me.
10
For you are great and do wondrous things, you alone are Elohim.
11 Teach me your way, Oh
, that
I may walk in your truth; unite my heart to fear your name.
12 I give thanks to you,
Oh my
Elohim, with my whole heart, and I will esteem your name forever.
13 For great is your
steadfast love toward me; you have delivered my soul from the depths of
Sheol. 14 Oh Elohim,
insolent men have risen up against me; a band of ruthless men seek my life,
and they do not set you before them.
15 But you, Oh
, are
a El merciful and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast
love and faithfulness. 16
Turn to me and take pity on me; give your strength to your servant, and save
the son of your handmaid. 17
Show me a sign of your favor, that those who hate me may see and be put to
shame because you,
, have
helped me and comforted me.
Yahweh bless, James A. Meyer

thin and dim, just barely visible only about 4 degrees above the horizon. Sunset

Dear Jim,
Several of us looked diligently for the new moon tonight. We had perfect skies.
Sundown was 6:15, and we looked from about that time to 7 p.m. We didn't see it,
except that I saw it with binoculars. I could not distinguish it without.
Blessings,
RY

Shalom Brother Jim,
I did not see the New Moon Crescent last night
but it sure is out and beautiful this evening February 8, 2008.
Everyone seems different and only Yahweh can put a sign like that for his people
to see...

Yahweh had my eyes to catch sight of the new moon
at 6:09pm (-4 GMT) in exactly 2 minutes after sunset this evening 08th/02/08
just as a huge overcast portion of clouds was beginning to hide away the visible
new moon.

We looked for the new moon and it was so cloudy
that we gave up after about 25 minutes and went inside to eat. A call from a
sister saying she could see it as she was driving to us made us go out and there
it was! Such a beautiful sight! About 20-30 of us saw it. EW
